Loft Conversion Planning Permission

Do I need loft conversion planning permission?

Fortunately, the majority of loft conversions do not require planning permission and come under permitted development rules, but you’ll still need to adhere to building regulations. All of our work meticulously meets building regulations, and you can be confident that any work done is structurally sound, that the new room is fire safe, and that sound will be insulated between the loft and the rooms below.

Our friendly team here at Chelmsford City Loft Conversions will advise you if you need to get planning permission.  Further information about permitted development and other regulations please click here.

Will I need any other permissions?

Party Wall Agreement

A party wall agreement is a legal agreement made between you and your neighbours, regarding any building work occurring that affects either a shared wall, outbuilding, or boundary. If you’re living in a semi-detached or terraced house, you’ll share a wall with your neighbour – the party wall, and you will need one of these agreements. You will need to notify them of your intentions, and their approval will be required.
Party Wall agreements are commonplace in loft builds, so Chelmsford City Loft Conversions has extensive experience of advising on this agreement and will guide you through the whole process. To get your free no obligation quote, fill out our loft survey form or call on 01245 905 404.
